Red Bull are already causing issues among Leeds United fans
Just months into their deal, the global giants have heavily been involved when it comes to marketing in and around the club. Aside becoming the shirt sponsor for the team, Red Bull have set up marketing stunts and fan signings around Elland Road.
Some fans have raised their concerns about the color red of the sponsor because it is the same color as bitter rivals Manchester United. Red Bull are also actively sponsoring Premier League clubs, which would be a problem if Leeds are promoted at the end of this season.
Red Bull’s expansion in particular could be an issue in the future. The club welcomed Japanese side Omiya Ardija in August and are looking to add a club in Italy. Reports indicate that JP Morgan have confirmed the global giants have an interest in adding a club from Italy, as they completed a deal for French Ligue 2 side Paris FC.
Partnership raises a lot of questions for the future
With UEFA set to clamp down on sister clubs in European competitions from next season, it will only be a matter of time before Red Bull is involved.
This could pose a problem in the near future if Leeds do qualify for continental cup competitions. The best way forward for the club is to make the fans aware of what Red Bull have planned for the future.
In the meantime, the Whites are preparing for a promotion charge and will look to add quality players in January. A former Europa League player has been linked with Leeds United.
