Leeds United face transfer dilemma – New striker move hinges on shock exit

Leeds United are moving towards securing several deals to strengthen their squad ahead of the end of the window. Daniel Farke is focused on injecting more goals and creativity into his team before the September 1st transfer deadline.

The Whites have already signed two strikers this summer, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who joined on a free transfer after signing a three-year deal with the club last week. Leeds are banking on the 28-year-old’s Premier League pedigree despite his injury issues in recent seasons.

Leeds are also set to finalise the arrival of Noah Okafor on a deal worth £18m from AC Milan. He passed his medical with the club on Wednesday and has agreed to sign a four-year deal.

The club are still in the market for a versatile attacking midfielder and a full-back. Farke also wants to sign another striker before the window closes, but that could depend on Leeds making a tough decision on the makeup of their squad.

Leeds United may have to sell to sign one more striker

Leeds have signed Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin, and have Joel Piroe in the squad beforehand. However, both their summer recruits are known for being injury-prone.

It is natural that Farke wants the security of one more striker in his squad if either Nmecha or Calvert-Lewin, or both, break down at some point this season.

However, Leeds are also looking to sign a full-back and a midfielder, and signing another striker could require a tough decision from the manager.

According to the BBC’s Phil McNulty, Farke may have to cash in on one of his star players to fund a move for one more striker late in the transfer window.

The Leeds boss does not want to lose one of his main men, but signing a striker may need a significant sale before the September 1st deadline.

Villarreal are interested in Pascal Struijk, but it appears Leeds do not want to sell the centre-back this summer.

However, funds need to be amassed from somewhere soon if the German wants to secure one more top striker before the transfer window closes.

Leeds are yet to book a significant sale this summer

Going into the transfer window, there was a feeling that Leeds might have to sell one of their promotion stars to fund the players they want to bring in.

Leeds have signed nine players for under the £100m figure this summer, but any more moves could need a significant sale, and Leeds are yet to book one.

Joe Gelhardt and Mateo Joseph left on loan deals, and they are yet to find a buyer for Patrick Bamford, who is not part of Farke’s plans this season.

Struijk has attracted interest, but could be the only player who could bring in a significant fee that could fund a move for one more striker late in the window.

Just hope we don’t let Ramazani go. I believe given a run in the team he’ll show he’s an excellent player.
