Since the start of the season, a lot of things have changed for Leeds United. After winning the Championship, many expected the Whites to go straight back down.
Leeds and Daniel Farke were given no chance before the league even kicked off, some speculated that the German would be sacked before the first game of the season. The club had a mixed start to the campaign, and after a few games managed to keep themselves just above the relegation zone.
But then around two months into the campaign, everything seemed to go downhill – Leeds dropped into the relegation zone for a few weeks. Farke was under pressure of being sacked but has managed to turn things around over the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the club’s six game unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of Newcastle this week.
Gary Lineker gives West Ham relegation verdict
Despite the loss, many are confident that the Whites will not be one of the teams going down this year. West Ham are now favourites to be relegated due to their run of poor form. Gary Lineker has now weighed in, saying he does not think the Hammers can escape the drop this campaign:
“Forest came out on top against West Ham, I mean it’s looking highly unlikely that the bottom three will be anything other than the bottom three at the end of the season.” he said on the Rest is Football podcast.
Things are now going well in London; Nuno Espirito Santo has been tipped to be sacked during this current run. The club’s owners have acted fast this month, bringing in some new players. West Ham’s last league win came at the start of November, and if nothing drastic happens, their current streak of five defeats in six games could be extended.

Leeds do not have room for complacency
Leeds United fans may think their six game run before Newcastle was a sign that they will survive, but with 17 games to go, nothing can be ruled out. Other teams can catch up, and if Farke and his men slip up, they will drop points.
The club have to be even more focused between now and the end of the season. The 49ers must also do their best to get reinforcements through the door this month to help out the team in key areas.
