Leeds United fans get blunt reminder of Brenden Aaronson’s current form

After back-to-back wins following the FIFA international break, Leeds United had a frustrating trip, drawing 0-0 with Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday. With the scoreless result, criticism is coming toward the attacking players.

The Whites came into the game on a high, with recent wins over Sheffield United (2-0) and Watford (2-1), both at Elland Road, and hoped to keep that momentum going against a mid-table Bristol City side.

Leeds fired off eight shots in the first half compared to Bristol’s three, but the score remained 0-0 at the break. In the second half, Leeds added one more attempt while Bristol managed just one shot. Despite their efforts, both teams came up short of a goal.

After Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League in 2023, Brenden Aaronson missed the club’s first season in the Championship, as they narrowly missed promotion after losing the Play-off Final to Southampton.

While on loan at Union Berlin, Aaronson made 38 appearances, tallying two goals and two assists. His time there was brief, though, and he’s now back with Leeds, aiming to play a key role in their push for Premier League promotion next season.

Back with Leeds United, the USMNT player is focused on making a strong impact and helping the team push for Premier League promotion next season.

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman hasn’t been impressed with Aaronson’s performances at Leeds United this season. With only one goal contribution in his last six appearances, Goodman believes the versatile attacker has more to offer.

“Aaronson is the one forward I’d want a little bit more from at Leeds,” Goodman told MOT Leeds News. “Willy Gnonto, Largie Ramazani, Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph – Brenden is the one leaving me wanting more.”

Despite facing criticism, not all pundits are harsh on Leeds United’s attacking player. Carlton Palmer thinks it was a “good call” by Leeds United and Daniel Farke to reintegrate Brenden Aaronson into the squad this season.

“One of those players who’s having a resurgence under Farke is Brenden Aaronson,” Palmer told Football League Word. “I think it’s the biggest storyline in the Championship this season.

“He’s now got three goals and an assist in 11 matches for Leeds United. Credit to Daniel Farke for keeping him in the mix and not offloading him in the summer. It’s now looking a good call for Leeds United.”
