Leeds United fans get the last laugh as Sean Dyche taunted £90k a week Leeds star in off-camera moment at Elland Road

Leeds United

This past week has not been great for Leeds United fans, but what happened on Friday night was enough to appease the fanbase. It was just last week that the Whites were excited over a marquee signing.

After bringing Facundo Buonanotte to Elland Road, the club aggressively pursued a deal for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. Ultimately, their offer fell short of what the selling club expected. Leeds wanted a loan till the end of the season with an obligation to buy. The Whites were willing to splash the cash, but only in the summer after the PSR deadline.

And on top of that, Leeds United suffered a huge defeat to Arsenal last Saturday. The Whites were played off the park as the Gunners put four goals past them without reply. This made some fans nervous ahead of facing Nottingham Forest in a crucial relegation clash.

Sean Dyche regrets moment in Leeds United defeat

Friday night was one of the best performances Leeds United have put up in recent weeks. They managed to bounce back from the defeat to Arsenal in grand style, taking a 2-0 lead in the first 30 minutes of the game. Forest were unable to handle the Elland Road atmosphere and it was affecting Sean Dyche and his staff on the touchline.

Graham Smyth revealed an incident that happened in the game; Noah Okafor was on the ground by the touchline and Dyche was having a bit of a laugh. Okafor then added Leeds’ second and minutes later, the Forest boss and his assistants held a meeting on the touchline as his side were struggling early in the game.

Noah Okafor could revive his season

Noah Okafor was one of the standout performers against Nottingham Forest. Daniel Farke even admitted before the game that the winger was great in training, and earned his spot in the starting lineup. He was a constant threat in behind the opponents’ defence for most of the 90 minutes and his goal was well deserved after making a great run and applying a deft finish.

The winger has been criticized for his inconsistency this season; some games he has impressed, and other games he has been anonymous. But on Friday night, he showed that he can be the perfect foil alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the new 3-5-2 system.
