Leeds United fans will be alarmed after concerning reality check ahead of Harry Gray’s move to Rotherham

Harry Gray Leeds United

Leeds United had a quiet start to the January transfer window, but now things look like they have sparked into life. Many fans were not sure of what would happen in the winter window.

Club chiefs briefed the fanbase that PSR could affect any dealings in January, but the latest transfers suggest otherwise. Leeds United have announced the signing of Facundo Buonanotte on loan for the rest of the season. And it does not look like they will stop there, as they have been linked with a move for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Harry Gray Leeds United exit raises questions

One transfer that has surprised everyone was the exit of Harry Gray. The young striker has joined Rotherham United on loan for the rest of the season. Per reports, Gray pushed for the move as he wanted some first team action. He did play for the U18s and U21s this season, along with a few matchday squad appearances with the first team in the Premier League.

However, the move to Rotherham has not been that much well received, and has raised a lot of questions from the fanbase. The club are one of the worst teams in League One this season, having won just six games in total. They also have the third worst attacking record, which could affect Harry Gray when he plays – there is not much quality in the team and that could hinder the striker’s development.

Charlie Crew’s loan deal comes to mind

Leeds have not made the best decisions when it comes to sending players out on loan this season. The likes of Largie Ramazani have barely had any playing time this season. Charlie Crew’s loan to Doncaster Rovers was also cut short; with the manager explaining that the football might have been at a  higher level than Crew was cut out for.

This could be what happens with Harry Gray; he is a talented player who has thrived at youth level, but putting him in such a bad team like Rotherham United could see him have a bad spell on loan.
