Leeds United continue to put distance between themselves and the relegation zone after picking up a point away to Sunderland. Fans are now confident that their team can survive at the end of the season.
It was just the second time in over a month that the club picked up points on the road. On Sunday the Whites once again came from a goal down to claim a point as the away side. Things are now looking up for the club, after they went on a winless run last month. Daniel Farke was also under pressure and tipped to be sacked, but he has managed to turn things around.
The club’s form has been helped by Dominic Calvert-Lewin spring to life in recent weeks. The striker has now scored in five consecutive games for the club since joining this past summer.
Harry Redknapp delivers Leeds United relegation verdict
Leeds United are five games without a loss in the Premier League after holding Sunderland at home. There are now seven points between the club and West Ham in 18th place. Former Premier League boss Harry Redknapp has said that he believes the Hammers will go down this season instead of Leeds.
| Statistic | West Ham | Leeds United |
|---|---|---|
| Points | 13 | 20 |
| Goals | 19 | 25 |
| Goals Conceded | 36 | 32 |
| Clean Sheets | 3 | 4 |
| Big Chances | 24 | 42 |
“The (West Ham) players are not good enough… I look at the league, and I’m thinking, ‘well who’s going to go?'” he said on Talksport.
“Leeds are on a roll, they’re playing fantastic at the moment, I think Sean Dyche will get Forest out (of trouble)… I don’t see who else is going to get sucked in… So West Ham, unfortunately, at the moment are red hot favourites for that third (relegation) spot.”
The Whites are on track
Daniel Farke has done a fantastic job ever since the game at the Etihad; his tactical switches have been spot on. Not only have the club been difficult to beat, but now they can go toe-to-toe in some games.
Fans complained earlier this season about the German’s team selection and tactics. But now in recent games, the Leeds boss has become more proactive in finding solutions during games. A perfect example is this Sunday, when he switched back to a 4-2-3-1 with Joe Rodon’s injury. If the club can continue this form into next year, then survival is a real probability.
