Leeds United fans will be stunned by Keith Andrews comments after Brentford draw

Leeds United returned from Brentford with a hard-earned point, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin continuing his scoring streak by netting in a fourth consecutive Premier League outing earlier today.

The draw leaves Leeds sitting 17th in the standings, three points above the relegation places, after negotiating a difficult away test against a Brentford side that has been particularly strong on home turf this season.

Given their poor recent away record — six defeats in seven league trips — the 1-1 result represented a welcome response. Leeds delivered a composed and competitive display to halt that run and take something from the game.

Once more, Daniel Farke’s side showed the resilience and quality required at this level, strengthening the case that they have what it takes to battle for Premier League survival in their first year back in the top flight.

Even Brentford boss Keith Andrews is praising Leeds United

Leeds dominated the second half and conceded the first goal against the run of play. However, they bounced back to return to Yorkshire with a point in their bag.

Brentford boss Keith Andrews swatted away claims that his side were defensive in the second half. He insisted Leeds’ recent performances show that they are a hard team to play against.

He feels Leeds have been a completely different prospect in the last couple of weeks and believes the 1-1 draw was the fair result at the end of the game.

“The table doesn’t lie”, when asked if his side were too cautious, Andrews said on the BBC’s Match of the Day show.

“We faced a Leeds team who are a pretty different prospect to a team from three weeks ago, the results they’ve had against the big teams and the performances they’ve probably deserved them.

“We knew it was going to be very difficult; they’ve changed the system and the way they play, so we were always very respectful, but I like I said, overall I think it was probably a fair result.”

Leeds fans might be surprised by what Andrews had to say

Andrews is in a different role right now and had to accept that Leeds were more than deserving of a point against his Brentford side earlier today.

However, during his punditry days, he was seen as being far too critical of Leeds and was not known for having too many nice words for the Yorkshire giants.

His tough takes on the Whites made him some sort of a pantomime villain for the Leeds fans, who were tired of him being hypercritical about their team on TV.

Leeds fans would now be mildly amused to see Andrews accept that the Whites are a good team and his team had to work hard to get a point against them at home.
