Leeds United handed a way out as first team star is ‘open to return’ – replacements have been lined up

Leeds United could see some departures this summer before new arrivals. Daniel Farke and the recruitment team have a huge task on their hands to improve the squad.

Leeds lost a lot of quality before the season began – Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville were all sold in the summer. Despite all of that, Daniel Farke guided the club to a league title win, hitting the 100-point mark in the Championship. Elland Road will now host Premier League football next season.

The Whites will be wary about surviving, Ipswich Town and Leicester City both surpassed 90 points last season. But both sides were relegated this year.

Thus summer, five players are almost guaranteed to depart the club. Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell will return to their parent clubs after their loan. Sam Byram, Junior Firpo and Josuha Guilavogui are all out of contract next month. Leeds are expected to mount an effort to sign Solomon on a permanent deal this summer, but they will have to fight off Marseille – who will play in the Champions League next season.

A shock candidate to leave this summer could be Joel Piroe. Recent reports have suggested that Leeds will not rely on the striker in the Premier League, and that new signings in his position are expected.

Piroe, has recently spoken to Voetbal International about how he would like to return to play for PSV in the future:

“That club is the most ingrained in me,” Piroe said.

My time there didn’t end the way I had hoped. So, I will always be open to a return. It’s not realistic now. But who knows, later.”

Piroe’s replacements are already being lined up

Leeds continue to pursue Jamie Vardy this summer. The Leicester City man is out of contract this summer, and could arrive at Elland Road on a free transfer. The Whites have also been linked with a move for former Spurs striker Troy Parrott, who is currently at AZ Alkmaar. Getting more attackers through the door should be a priority for Daniel Farke this summer.
