Marseille were seen as goners in the Jonathan Rowe deal but the French giants have made a last-ditch offer. According to TEAMtalk, the club faced rejection of a £10.3 million offer and were ready to walk away.
But Les Olympiens changed their mind and made another offer before dropping interest permanently. Marseille has reportedly offered a loan deal for Rowe worth £1.7 million with an option to buy next summer for £12 million.
Loan was never an option for Norwich City as the club were ready to cash out on the winger. With so much market interest, The Canaries don’t want to miss this opportunity before the winger’s contract expires in 12 months.
The offer was rejected and now the French outfit is finally moving out of the race. This opens up the platform for Leeds United as they are readying a better offer for the youngster.
Jonathan can be an important signing for United following another key departure at Elland Road. Giorginio Rutter recently made a verbal agreement to join Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Seagulls triggered the Frenchman’s release clause just before the 14th of August midnight expiry. This signing will leave another big hole in The Whites’ squad which they’ll need to fill in under two weeks.

Leeds United ready to step up pursuit of Jonathan Rowe
Our last report claimed that Leeds United are preparing an offer of around £10 million but now things seem to have changed. TEAMtalk reported that The Whites are thinking of improving on Marseille’s deal.
With the French Giants’ first offer standing in at £10.3 million and second at £12 million, The 49ers are expected to better these offers with a new one.
Considering previous player sales and now with Giroginio Rutter leaving for £40 million, United might be sitting on a £15 million offer for Jonathan Rowe.
This is meeting The Canaries at their price. However, there is still negotiating space between Les Olympiens’ last offer and Norwich City’s ask price.
So things can still go either way in the saga. A starting point will at least be at around £13 million which tops Marseille’s offer and also comes closer to The Canaries’ valuation.
But now with no competition, Leeds United can test the limits here. The club still has other options though, with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s Sheffield United negotiation facing a snag. The Whites have also identified Stoke City winger Million Manhoef as another alternative.
Keep up. Monaco are in the mix now too. If he really wanted to come to Leeds he would be at Elland Road by now
