Leeds United handed huge £6 million problem

Leeds United’s run of bad injury luck has continued with their latest heartbreaking blow.

After losing skipper Ethan Ampadu to injury and midfield partner Ilia Gruev, Leeds United have now lost Largie Ramazani.

He limped off after scoring against Watford and there were immediate concerns with former Sheffield United midfielder Carlton Palmer saying on Football League World:

“I mean they’ve been outstanding the last two games, beating Sheffield United and beating Watford. But now they’ve got further problems, with Firpo picking up his fifth booking of the season, so he’s going to miss the Bristol City game and Ramazani coming off. They’ll have to assess his injuries and how he’s going to be.

“It’s like I’ve said all season, it’s been a problem for Daniel Farke, losing quality players for long periods of time, and he still manages to get results. So yes, it’s going to be a big blow. It’s not going to be an easy game. There’s no easy games in the Championship.”

It has now been confirmed that he will miss 4-6 weeks with “serious” ligament damage. This creates a £6 million for Daniel Farke to solve in attack. There are few attackers in the Championship valued as highly on transfermarket as Ramazani, and now he will have to turn to Dan James or Solomon to fill that £6 million hole.

This in turn creates its own selection headache and will be a problem for Farke to solve beyond the worries about Ramazani as it could also constitute a need to move Willy Gnonto around, which is not ideal.

Leeds United handed potential boost

It’s not all bad news from Daniel Farke’s press conference however, with the Leeds manager confirming new signing Josuha Guilavogui could feature.

He said during the press conference: “He’s available and eligible to play. When you haven’t trained you can’t be there with 100 per cent but has spent a few days with us in team training and with the ball.

“It’s not important right now that he plays many minutes, it’s that he’s there as an additional option and fingers crossed we go on without injuries. To bring him in was necessary, for the pure numbers.”

Leeds will also be without Junior Firpo on Saturday against Bristol City due to his one-match suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.
