Leeds United began their Premier League campaign with a huge win over Everton at Elland Road. The Whites carried that momentum into the Arsenal game this past weekend, but the result was not pleasant.
Despite putting up a good fight in the first 30 minutes of the first half, Arsenal took the lead through a corner. The Gunners added a second before half time, and scored three more goals without reply in the second period. Daniel Farke’s side learnt a valuable lesson about how the level of quality in the Premier League can punish newly promoted sides.
The Whites’ next league game is at home to Newcastle, but Leeds will face Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Tuesday night’s cup tie gives Leeds a chance to try out some new players. Daniel Farke has already said some new signings will feature in the game as he plans to rotate wisely. Leeds may already have the upper hand over Sheffield Wednesday after what their manager said.
Henrik Pedersen revealed that he will prioritize the players’ fitness, and could field a very young side for the cup tie.
“First of all, Leeds are a fantastic club and a fantastic team,”
“But it doesn’t matter who we play against – we’ll always start with ourselves. Our situation, right now, is that we have to rest more or less all the players that we’ve played.
“It could be a team that is similar to the one we played at Bolton, so a young team with a lot of U21 players, because we need to take care of the players we have so they can be fit for the Swansea game.
“So it’ll be a very young team that plays against Leeds, but we have prepared ourselves as we normally do, so we can compete at the best level that we can right now with our squad.”
Daniel Farke has a huge opportunity tonight
Leeds can advance to the next round if they play their cards right. Tuesday’s game can allow a few players to get a full run out, including some of the new signings. The best scenario would be a win to help boost confidence ahead of the Newcastle game.
