Leeds United handed huge boost in race for Leicester City star

Leeds United have some business to conclude before the end of the transfer window. The Whites have already added seven signings to the squad this summer.

The plan seems to be to add more firepower to the attack before next season. Leeds have spent the early part of the campaign bolstering the defence and the midfield.

There is also the feeling that the Whites will move on some players near the end of the window. The likes of Patrick Bamford, Sam Greenwood and Darko Gyabi have been asked to find new clubs.

QUIZ: Can you name the team Leeds United signed these players from in the 2000s?

Multiple reports have revealed that Leeds held a meeting with Leicester over Bilal El Khannouss.

Though no deal has been agreed yet, the Whites are intent on triggering the player’s release clause. Nothing has been confirmed so far, but Leeds have serious interest and could trigger the clause in the coming hours. The Whites already have a massive advantage in the race to sign the attacking midfielder.

Santi Aouna is reporting that both Liepzig and Crystal Palace are yet to submit an offer for the 21-year old, leaving the road clear for Leeds United.

James Justin could also follow

El Khannouss could be one of two Leicester City stars to make the trip to Elland Road.

Reports suggest that Daniel Farke is keen on adding James Justin to his team. With Isaac Schmidt on his way out, Leeds need a replacement that can fill in both fullback roles. Werder Bremen have agreed a season-long loan to sign the Swiss defender.

Justin is the perfect addition, and with his contract up next year, he could be available for a very low price.

El Khannouss would be a huge addition

Daniel Farke has been keen on adding an attacking midfielder since last season. Losing Georginio Rutter meant the Leeds side lost a lot of creativity in attack. Though Farke’s tactics were great, and the team managed to score 95 goals next season, Leeds still need to improve. El Khannouss would be a valuable addition to the side.

Last season, he had two goals and three assists in one of the worst teams in the division. The attacking midfielder is a dynamic ball carrier – he can bring the ball up the field and create chances. El Khannouss ranked among the best midfielders in the division when it comes to carrying the ball.

Leeds could do with such quality in their attack next season.
