Leeds United handed major boost

Leeds United have been handed a huge boost heading into this weekend’s league game.

The Whites have won two games on the bounce since returning from the international break. Daniel Farke had a mostly healthy squad of players for the Swansea game. Leeds handed the Swans just their second home defeat of the season, as Willy Gnonto scored a last minute winner in a tough game on Sunday.

Leeds beat Luton Town at Elland Road on Wednesday night. It was a straightforward win for the club, as Luton failed to pose any serious threat for most of the game. Goals from Joel Piroe, Sam Byram and Dan James were enough to record a 3-0 victory.

Leeds have another tough game ahead of this weekend. They face a Blackburn Rovers side that has won five of their eight games this season. Blackburn midfielder Lewis Travis has said that Leeds United are a big test they hope to defeat at Ewood Park. Last season both teams won a league game against each other; Leeds won the first game away from home, and Blackburn won the reverse fixture at Elland Road.

Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace confirmed that his team will be without three key players on Saturday. Star striker Andreas Weimann, forward Arnor Sigurdsson and goalkeeper Balazs Toth will miss the game. Eustace said that Weimann is yet to recover from a serious knee injury:

“Andi will be missing for a couple of weeks, unfortunately,”

“He’s been playing through a knee injury which people didn’t know about. He’s had that for four games and yesterday it swelled up a bit in training. We have decided there is no point risking it. We want to get him right so he’s going to have a few weeks off.”

Leeds also have injuries to worry about, as Daniel Farke confirmed that two players left the Luton Town game with knocks. Sam Byram was taken off as a precaution, with the team suspecting it is a hamstring problem. Manor Solomon was also seen holding his leg during the match. There is good news for Leeds fans, Junior Firpo will return from his suspension this weekend.

The Whites have the perfect opportunity to cap this week off with a huge win at Ewood Park on Saturday. Leeds are joint top of the Championship this season.
