Leeds United handed major injury news

Despite major injuries early this season, Leeds United have started the season well.

Daniel Farke’s men sit in second place in the championship, and have lost just one game since August. Leeds are the second best attacking team in the championship with 22 and the second best defensive team with just 8 goals conceded.

Farke lost key players this summer so it’s very impressive that he has Leeds playing this well early in the season. Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Archie Gray among other players, left Elland Road in the summer. However, Gray may be on the move back to Leeds United after not playing many games at Spurs this season.

Leeds United handed injury boost

Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev picked up injuries very early in the campaign and have missed a few months of football. Ampadu will be out until at least January, with a knee ligament injury.

Gruev on the other hand, is able to walk again without crutches which comes as a big boost to Leeds.

“I’m good, I’m feeling better,” Gruev said to LUTV. “A sad moment for me, my first big injury but I’m looking forward to coming back as soon as possible. Today I took my crutches off, my brace – I can walk again. It has been a big frustration, I didn’t know how long I was going to be out and as a player, you hope it will be a short time but you speak with the medical staff and you know it’s going to take a couple of months.

“It’s hard but it’s football, you have to deal with it. It was tough for me but I try to forget it and look into the future. We have a group where we always speak and it’s important as a team that we have success. Everyone in the squad is important so every week I’m hoping we win three points, and I help wherever I can.”

Gruev returning to the team would help address Daniel Farke’s concerns about the midfield. The Leeds United boss still wants to add to the squad depth by signing this Premier League midfielder.
