Leeds United handed major transfer boost

Last year, Ryan Kent was linked to Leeds United to bolster their forward, and the 27-year-old emerged as a target again earlier this year. Nonetheless, with the player now being a free agent, speculation arises whether the Whites could be keen on the player.

This month, Kent’s contract with Fenerbahçe was mutually terminated after the club learned that his case was heading to the Court of Arbitration for Sport due to concerns over his treatment.

Kent had maintained his fitness and trained to a professional standard to be available for selection but remained marginalized by Fenerbahce’s coaching staff.

The Daily Mail reports that Kent, frustrated with the ongoing situation, was prepared to take his case to CAS. However, the parties involved reached a mutually agreed conclusion last week.

Could Leeds United revisit the Ryan Kent file?

Kent attracted interest from several clubs during the summer, including Leeds United, Ipswich Town, and Ajax. Meanwhile, Rangers fans are eager for him to return to Ibrox, hoping he will train with the team and eventually sign as a free agent when the transfer window opens in January.

Nonetheless, Scottish journalist Mark Guidi noted that he has cautioned Rangers against bringing Kent back for another stint with the club unless it’s under favorable terms.

“I’m sure Ryan Kent will have offers,” Guidi said on Go Radio. “If he’s willing to come back to Rangers and fall within the wage structure then fair enough, I would do it. But I wouldn’t push the boat out to get him.”

Despite the links from European sides, the Daily Mail notes that the forward could choose to stay abroad, with interest also emerging from clubs in Saudi Arabia. If Kent opts not to take a pay cut, then a move away from Europe could be ideal to ensure his finances.

Leeds United could always use another forward as this season has shown that their depth will be tested. The Whites have endured a midfield injury crisis and it’s still early in the season, so perhaps they understand that depth will be needed if they want to secure promotion because the Championship is a long and grueling campaign.

Leeds have been linked with another of Klopp’s kids which you can read about here.

Leeds have no need for Kent. If they do require replacements then they would be looking for better quality than a spent force
