Leeds United handed massive boost ahead of Friday’s clash – Oxford United will not like this news

Leeds United

Leeds United head into this week’s games with huge advantage in the promotion race. The Whites are almost guaranteed to be promoted after Sheffield United’s slip up last weekend.

Friday will see another pivotal day in the race for the league title. Burnley play early on Friday, while Leeds will feature in the late night kick-off. Hopefully Scott Parker does not complain about the fixture schedule this time around.

With four games to go, it is now down to a two-horse race between the Whites and the Clarets. But Sheffield United could have a say in the upcoming games.

Leeds have a huge game on Friday away to Oxford United. Daniel Farke’s side should be wary as the U’s have picked up some form in their battle for survival. Gary Rowett’s men have picked up three wins in their last five games, and are motivated to end the season on a high. The U’s boss is adamant his side can get a result when the two sides meet.

Leeds will be pleased to hear that Daniel Farke has confirmed that Dan James could be ready this weekend. The winger missed the game against Preston after a problem with his hamstring. Farke says there is a chance he makes the team for Friday’s game:

“With Daniel James it looks a bit better and at this stage it looks like we will definitely have him available for the Monday game. If he is available to play in the Good Friday game against Oxford it will be a late decision, so we have another 24 hours to see.”

Leeds set to have their best attacker return

It is a massive boost for Daniel James to be back in the team for this run-in. The Welshman has arguably been the best attacker in this Leeds team this season. All the other forward options have shown inconsistency and had poor periods of form, unlike James.

The winger has played a huge part in the promotion push since the start of the year. Dan James has 13 direct goal involvements in the Championship since the start of 2025. His direct wing play and nose for goal has more than made up for the attacking deficiencies of the other players in the squad.
