Leeds United handed shock chance to sign 24-cap international striker confirmed to leave in January

Leeds United head into the January transfer window with a clearer plan, placing renewed focus on strengthening their attacking options as they look to bolster their Premier League survival push.

An improvement in results has brought greater stability to the season and eased some of the pressure on Daniel Farke, but concerns persist over the team’s lack of depth in the final third. The club are also looking to add one more centre-back in January.

That urgency has been heightened by tactical changes. The shift to a 5-3-2 system has increased dependence on a reliable goalscorer, while limited depth in attacking areas has further underlined the need for reinforcements.

Leeds have been looking at options to bolster their squad. However, a surprise opportunity has arrived that could see a wanted striker move to Elland Road in January.

Leeds United offered Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in January

Jorgen Strand Larsen could have left Wolves last summer when Newcastle pushed hard to sign him as Alexander Isak’s replacement.

However, Wolves rejected offers worth up to ÂŁ55m, and continued to stick to their ÂŁ60m valuation of the forward.

But things have not worked out for both Wolves and Strand Larsen this season. The club are rooted to the bottom of the league table, and he has scored just six times.

Intermediaries are pushing hard to get him out of the club this month, with Wolves ready to let him go in the ongoing transfer window.

According to TEAMTalk, Leeds are amongst the clubs that have been offered a chance to sign the Norwegian striker with 24 international caps this month.

It won’t be a straightforward deal for Leeds as they may need to move on Joel Piroe to sign the Strand Larsen in the winter window.

Newcastle, Tottenham, Everton, Nottingham Forest and West Ham are also among the clubs that are keen to do a deal for the Norwegian this month.

Strand Larsen will be a huge signing

The Norwegian striker has not scored many this season, but it is easy to argue that his struggles are down to playing in a poor Wolves team.

He was brilliant for the Black Country club last season, scoring 14 times in his first season in the Premier League, and Newcastle felt that he was good enough to replace Isak.

Jorgen Strand Larsen’s Premier League record in the 2024/25 season

Appearances 35
Goals 14
Assists 4

It would be a major shock if Leeds managed to sign Strand Larsen in January, given how much money would be required to snare him away from Wolves.

The interest from a few more Premier League clubs will further complicate it for Leeds, who do not have the financial muscle to compete with several of the Norwegian’s suitors.

However, it would be a genuine game-changer if Leeds managed to pull this off and convince the striker to move to Elland Road in the winter window.
