Leeds United have ‘window of opportunity’ to secure dream signing all fans want

Leeds United do not want to count their chickens just yet and last season’s playoff final heartbreak would ensure that the players keep their feet grounded. However, the Whites seem poised to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League with each passing day. The promotion talk has led to discussions about what Leeds would need to do in the summer to give themselves a decent chance of survival in the top flight. The Whites need to bring in quality to raise the floor of the squad but there are players in the team who should have a future at Elland Road as well. Manor Solomon is one of the players Leeds would love to retain and there is an increasing feeling that the Whites would have that opportunity.

The Whites sit five points clear at the summit of the Championship table following their 4-0 win at Watford on Tuesday night and have not conceded a goal in their last six league games.

Leeds have changed gears at a crucial juncture of the season and now seem to be marching towards automatic promotion given the margin for error for them is growing bigger with each win.

Talk has shifted towards recruitment and the state of the promoted clubs from last season shows that Leeds would need to increase the overall quality of their squad by several manifolds.

However, there are players in the squad who could be good enough in the top flight and Solomon is one of the stars who is seen as Premier League-ready.

Leeds did not secure an option to buy in the loan agreement with Tottenham last year but Paul Robinson believes there is a decent chance the Israeli would return to Elland Road in the summer.

Solomon missed almost the entirety of last season at Tottenham due to a knee injury and a loan move last summer was to test whether he would be physically ready to play in England again.

The winger has been one of the most important players since breaking into the starting eleven towards the end of 2024 and got another goal at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.

Leeds would need to be in the Premier League if they have any hope of signing him on a permanent contract and Robinson believes there is a decent chance of a deal happening.

Spurs are having a dreadful season under Ange Postecoglou and in the summer Spurs could be undergoing a managerial change and the flux that comes with it.

The former Spurs and Leeds goalkeeper believes the Whites should get a window of opportunity to secure a deal to take Solomon back to the Premier League if they get promoted.

“He’s done well at Leeds with his goals and assists and at the minute”, Robinson said BetFred TV.

“You don’t know what’s going to happen at Tottenham with the manager and who’s recruiting the players, so there could be a window of opportunity for Leeds United to sign Manor Solomon, but others will be looking at him.

“If Leeds do get promoted, then he would be a great buy.”

Leeds need to react fast if they want Solomon back

Solomon’s performances this season at Leeds in the Championship must have impressed Tottenham as well as a few other Premier League clubs.

There is no telling who would be Spurs manager next season and the uncertainty could lead to the club deciding to cash in on the winger in the summer.

Leeds are interested in getting him back but a few more Premier League clubs are likely to jump into the race for the winger as well.

If the window of opportunity opens up for a permanent deal to sign Solomon, Leeds would have to be quick on their feet and react fast to negotiate an agreement with Spurs.

Everything still depends on Leeds getting promoted but they would have very little time to celebrate if they want Solomon back at Elland Road in the summer.
