Leeds United hold late-window edge in race for £20m Premier League star

Leeds United are pushing hard to bring more attacking quality into their squad before the transfer window closes on Monday night. Daniel Farke has indicated that, without the necessary additions, late in the window, the Whites will struggle to survive in the Premier League this season.

The Whites were left shocked and disappointed when their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Facundo Buonanotte collapsed under dramatic circumstances on Friday. They thought they had a deal in place to sign him on loan, only for Chelsea to barge in and convince the 20-year-old to move to Stamford Bridge.

Leeds have turned to other targets, and the club are considering several options and holding conversations behind the scenes. Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer is a target, and they are also weighing up making an offer for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendia.

The club are assessing several options, and work is underway as they seek to add to their forward line before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

Can you name the team Leeds United signed these players from in the 2000s?

Leeds United have an advantage if they make a move for Manor Solomon

Manor Solomon’s future at Tottenham remains unresolved as Spurs continue to push to move him on before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

The Spurs winger would prefer to return to Leeds this summer, and while the Whites have continued to track his situation, they have not made a concrete move for him.

Leicester City and Sheffield United are keen to add his Championship-winning experience to their squad before the end of the transfer window.

However, according to Sky Italia, Solomon’s preference is to find a club in the Premier League over another move to the Championship.

He is waiting for offers in the Premier League, which plays into Leeds’ hands if they decide to make a late bid for him on transfer deadline day.

A loan move to take Solomon back to Elland Road has not been ruled out, and he is another player who will not take time to settle at Elland Road.

Solomon is likely Leeds’ back-up option

Leeds have failed with moves for a couple of targets who could have fulfilled the role that Solomon played last season in the Championship.

He has not been the preferred target for Leeds despite his willingness to return to Elland Road this summer.

However, with time and targets running out, a move for Solomon on transfer deadline day will not surprise anyone. He is a player who is well-liked at the club, and Farke knows how to use him.

It remains to be seen whether a last-ditch offer is made to sign the winger from Tottenham in the final hours of Monday’s transfer deadline.

As much as I liked Solomon in the Championship, he didn’t consider committing to Leeds when we were promoted. Now Spurs have no future for him is he the best Leeds can get —– Shame on the weak 49s if this is all they can manage.
