Leeds United hopeful of completing major transfer tonight – green light has been given

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has been very open about his plans since pre-season. He made decisions on the players he wanted in his plans very early in the summer, so that recruitment could move smoothly.

Farke can be very stern and straight to the point, which has rubbed some players the wrong way. This summer, a host of players have left Elland Road as they see no future under the German. Max Wober was told to find a new club before the summer, and secured a loan to Werder Bremen. Patrick Bamford was told he was not part of this season’s plans, and his contract was mutually terminated for him to leave. And when Mateo Joseph refused to join pre-season camp, he was loaned out to Mallorca.

Two players who barely got playing time as new signings last season have also been shown the exit. Largie Ramazani and Isaac Schmidt arrived with so much promise, but for some reason, Daniel Farke never trusted them.

At the start of the summer window, it was widely reported that Leeds had placed three of their former U21 stars for sale. Joe Gelhardt, Darko Gyabi and Sam Greenwood. For most of the summer, it looked like no offer was coming in. But the past few weeks have been lively. Gelhardt sealed a loan return to Hull City, and in a shock move, Sam Greenwood joined Pogon in the Polish league.

It has all gone quiet around Darko Gyabi this summer. Off the back of an impressive loan for Plymouth, it looked like no one was ready to sign him. But The Athletic are reporting that Hull are keen to add him to their squad this summer. Leeds are very hopeful a deal can be finalized before the transfer deadline.

Gyabi will join former teammate Joe Gelhardt at the club. It is said to be a permanent deal, though the financial details are yet to be revealed. Darko Gyabi last featured for Leeds in 2023, and currently has one year left on his contract at Elland Road.
