Leeds United in race for £11m winger – German club open to summer sale

Leeds United are in the market for several more signings as they are aware that they need a squad overhaul to survive in their first season back in the Premier League. Daniel Farke is eyeing adding more firepower to the attack before the transfer window shuts down at the end of August.

The Whites have already done decent business this summer, with the club adding former Wolfsburg striker Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer to bolster their forward options ahead of their return to the Premier League next season.

Leeds have also signed Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw to bolster their defence, but the club have plans to strengthen across the board in the ongoing transfer window.

The Yorkshire giants are aware that they need options across several areas of the squad and more depth to sustain their challenge of surviving in the Premier League next season.

Leeds United are battling for a Ligue 1 winger this summer

Franck Honorat had a decent season in Germany last season, having 13 goal contributions in 19 league games for Borussia Monchengladbach.

His performances in the Bundesliga have turned heads, and Leeds have been keeping tabs on the 28-year-old winger for months.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Leeds are interested in securing a deal to take him to Elland Road as part of their transfer plans this summer.

Dan James nailed down the right winger’s spot last season, but Leeds are aware that they need more options next season in the Premier League, and Honorat is a key target.

The Frenchman’s ability to play as an attacking midfielder also suits Farke, who is a big fan of players who can play in multiple roles in a team.

Gladbach signed him for somewhere around £7m in 2023, but could cash in if a club are prepared to offer them a fee of £11m.

Honorat will be a good addition to the Leeds squad

The 28-year-old winger has been a journeyman during his career, but he has been impressive in the Bundesliga since joining Gladbach in 2023.

He is a creator of chances, and his ability to play both as an attacking midfielder and on the right wing will be a massive plus in the Leeds squad in the Premier League.

Farke loves versatility in footballers, and the Leeds manager wants more options to shuffle his players as he plans to keep the Whites in the Premier League next season.

A close look at his numbers shows that if he has the right players around him, Honorat can create chances and score goals and be a real difference-maker.
