Leeds United in talks with Juventus midfielder

According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Leeds United have approached Juventus to discuss a deal for midfielder Weston McKennie.

Leeds have been linked with the midfielder in the past, and the player is now looking to leave Italy for more minutes after losing his place in the first team.

“Leeds therefore tries for Weston McKennie,” Di Marzio wrote on his website.

“There have already been the first contacts between the parties and now we will continue to talk to find a meeting point.

“First contacts therefore between the clubs to understand the feasibility of the operation: Leeds tries, Juve negotiates. Now we are just waiting for how the negotiation will evolve.”

The Whites are said to be keen to add to their midfield after losing Mateusz Klich. Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that Leeds have concrete interest in the American, stating that he is part of their midfield shortlist alongside Azzedine Ounahi:

“Leeds are exploring new options for the midfield including Weston McKennie. It’s one of the possibilities considered by the club as Matteo Moretto has reported

The list still includes Azzedine Ounahi after opening bid made weeks ago.” he wrote on his Twitter account.

If a move for McKennie materializes, he would be the latest in a trend of former Red Bull players joining the club under Jesse Marsch. Tyler Adams, Rasmus Kristensen, Brendan Aaronson and most recently Max Wober have joined the club since the American was made Head Coach.
