Leeds United have seen a complete overhaul of the attack that finished with 95 goals in the Championship last season. Especially with the striking depth.

Last year, Joel Piroe had to feature in almost all 46 games in the league. His backups were Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph. Daniel Farke trusted Joseph initially, but barely gave the youngster any playing time after January, and Bamford was injured for most of the campaign and managed just 329 minutes in total.

This summer has seen a huge shake up; Mateo Joseph has been loaned to Mallorca after asking for a transfer during pre-season camp. And Farke told Patrick Bamford that he is not in the team’s plans for next season.

One key piece the Whites also lost was Manor Solomon. The Spurs loanee contributed to 22 goal involvements in the Championship, including the crucial one to seal the title win.

Leeds have partially addressed the depth at the striker’s position – bringing in Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer. The former Everton man was a free agent this summer. He will now join Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha in their battle for a starting role.

But it looks like the club are not quite done yet. According to BBC Sport, Leeds are considering a move for Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis. It seems like Daniel Farke wants more firepower up top.

There has been no news of an official bid or contact with the player, but the 25-year old is one to keep an eye on for later this month.

A move could see a role change for Lukas Nmecha

There were reports earlier this summer when Lukas Nmecha arrived that he would be used in a variety of roles in the attack. He was not an out and out number nine at Wolfsburg, and it could be a similar scenario here.

Nmecha is good with his feet and can carry the ball, and was sometimes used behind the striker or out wide. In rare occasions, he even played as an advanced midfielder. So if Leeds do decide to go after Ioannidis, Nmecha could find a new role in Daniel Farke’s system.
