Leeds United insider reveals Deadline Day drama over £5m star transfer

Leeds United are struggling to bring in the attackers Daniel Farke wants on transfer deadline day, but the club are also working on outgoing transfers. The Whites are pushing to move on a few players who have no future at Elland Road under the current manager.

The Yorkshire giants are desperate to bring in at least one more attacking reinforcement, if not the two that Farke would prefer, on the final day of the transfer window. However, a couple more player sales could also help them with certain incoming deals as well.

Leeds have got rid of most of the players who had no future at the club under Farke, but they are still working on a couple more exits, preferably on permanent deals, to ensure the manager only has the players that he wants in the team.

Darko Gyabi is on the cusp of completing a permanent move to Championship side Hull City in the coming hours, but the club are yet to know whether they will be able to move on Illan Meslier in time before the window closes later this evening.

Leeds United still do not have a deal in place to sell Illan Meslier

Meslier has been expected to leave Leeds all summer, but with hours left in the transfer window, he is still contracted to the Yorkshire giants.

Rangers and Valencia have been linked with an interest in the Frenchman, but Lorient are the ones who are working on a deal to sign him today.

However, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth, a deal to take Meslier away from Leeds is still not done.

With hours left in the window, there is still no agreement on a fee or personal terms for the Frenchman ot leave Elland Road this summer.

Lorient are working on a deal, but they are not the only club in the race, and a couple more sides are interested in getting their hands on Meslier.

Leeds blocked an approach from Galatasaray for Meslier due to past tensions between the two clubs, which made the transfer unpalatable.

The Whites are working on incoming business as well, but they may still not sign a player before the window closes this evening.
