Leeds United interested in Brighton striker – Patrick Bamford might be sold this summer

Leeds United

This summer presents a unique opportunity for Leeds United. With Premier League promotion all but confirmed, the club now has to add quality to their squad.

With four games to go, Leeds are in the driving seat. Especially after Sheffield United slipped up to hand them a huge advantage. Daniel Farke’s men just need to avoid defeat in their next two games to seal promotion. However, the league title is still in their sights, and they have to see off Burnley to win it.

This season started on a bad note for the club as they lost all their best stars. However, Farke has lead the team to success despite a limited summer window. Hopefully that changes now that Leeds are set for the Premier League.

Earlier this week, the Whites had been linked with Brighton’s Evan Ferguson. The striker was valued at 100million a few years ago but is way lower than that value now due to injuries and lack of playing time. As a teenager in his first two seasons of Premier League football, he scored 12 goals.

Many believe he can still go on to be one of the best attackers in the league. And there is a high chance this is the reason Leeds have thrown their hat in the race. With Joel Piroe continuing to be uninspiring up front, and Patrick Bamford on the decline, the club need a new number nine for the Premier League.

Time to move on from Patrick Bamford

Bamford has been a great servant to Leeds United. His performances in the Premier League will be remembered fondly. But over the past few years, he has barely been able to play regularly. And with his huge contract at the club, it has all the makings of a relationship that needs to end.

The veteran forward has zero goals and zero assists in the league this season. His ability to influence games from the bench has vanished from last season. Every sign points to Bamford not being cut out for this level, Leeds need to cut their losses and target a new striker for the future.
