Leeds United have provided more clarification on the status of the Daniel James injury and eased some of the speculation surrounding the severity of the problem.

It was revealed earlier today that the winger sustained an injury in training this week, sparking fears he could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with speculation suggesting it may keep him out for months.

In the absence of clear communications, rumours took hold of the narrative, and there were suggestions that he could miss the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury.

Wales boss Craig Bellamy eased some of the fears by insisting that it was not a knee injury, and he was waiting for more updates on what he believed was nothing more than an ankle problem.

Leeds United have stepped in to provide clarification on Daniel James

Leeds have come out to clear the rumours surrounding James and insisted that the medical team are assessing the ankle injury the winger has picked up.

However, the club confirmed that it is not expected to be a long-term issue, which squashed suggestions that he could be out for months.

Leeds also added that manager Daniel Farke will provide a more detailed assessment of James’ injury status when he addresses the media in a pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“Daniel James has an ankle issue, which is currently undergoing assessment”, a statement from Leeds United read.

“Any absence is not expected to be long-term and Leeds United manager Daniel Farke will provide a full update during Thursday’s press conference.”
