Leeds United will have to go big in the transfer market if they hope to sign quality for the Premier League next season. The team should also expect to lose some players, as the club will have to balance the books due to PSR rules.
One player that looks to be on his way out of Elland Road is Junior Firpo. The left back has been linked with a move away from England all season. With his contract up at the end of the season, there are no reports of a new deal. Firpo himself admitted that he would welcome a return to Spain with his former club Real Betis:
“Returning to Spain, well… Especially returning to Betis. It’s an option I always have open. I’ve never hidden it. If I tell you that I’ve found it like a home here in Leeds, I’m telling you that Betis is my home. I’m a Betis fan, everyone knows that, and it’s in my blood.”

It looks like Leeds are already active in the search for a replacement. Journalist Ekrem Konur is reporting that Daniel Farke’s side are competing with Sheffield United for Max Aarons. The Bournemouth defender is currently on loan at Valencia till the end of the season. The 25-year old is expected to have multiple suitors this summer, with Marseille and Lille also interested.

Leeds have been linked with Aarons over the last two years, and they came close to signing him last year, but the deal never materialized.
Aarons could be the Firpo replacement
Despite being listed as a right back, Aarons has some versatility. During his career he has played at left back, and sometimes as a winger. He hasn’t played much over the last year, but statistically, he is one of the better options on the market.

Left back looks like where Leeds will look to play him if he is signed. With Jayden Bogle having cemented his role on the right, Aarons would be the first choice on the left, while being a backup option at right back.
