Leeds United leading race to sign Argentine playmaker

Leeds United are close to completing a number of transfer deals before the deadline next Monday. Daniel Farke is especially expecting reinforcements in attack after seeing recent performances.

The Whites spent most of this summer window adding defenders and midfielders. Leeds approached those areas of the squad first as they considered them as a priority. When it comes to the attack, Farke has been adamant on adding quality there. He has already made it clear that he will not change his style from last season. To get a fair idea of how the German wants Leeds to play, this is what he said before the game against Arsenal:

”I think it’s important to create chances to scare them and be dangerous ourselves and play positive football to try and score goals. There will be periods in the game where we will suffer and be well structured and be a compact unit against the ball.”

This could be seen in the first game against Everton where they dominated the Toffees.

But it was a much different prospect against Arsenal. Leeds barely had any time and space on the ball, and when they had it, there was nothing productive. The team seemed to lack a spark and it showed on the day. Daniel Farke has been keen on signing an attacking midfielder over the last year, and now, Leeds may finally deliver one.

UOL Esporte journalist Cesar Luis Merlo has reported that Leeds are currently leading West Ham in the race to sign Brighton star Facundo Buonanotte.

The playmaker had been left out of the Seagulls’ last two matchday squads as he seeks a move away. No financial details have been mentioned but Buonanotte could move before the window closes.

Buonanotte would be a welcomed addition

Seeing how the team operated against Arsenal, it is quite clear that Leeds need a creative spark. Buonanotte can play in the middle or out wide, but he brings dribbling and creativity. Last season on loan at Leicester, he had five goals and two assists – he will be a good addition to the squad.
