Leeds United line up move for Norwich City star Josh Sargent – Burnley also keen

Leeds United are continuing their search for a new center forward this summer. The plan is to add another option up front despite signing Lukas Nmecha.

The German joined on a free transfer from Wolfsburg and is expected to play a squad role while filling other attacking positions. In the Bundesliga, he played as the number 10, on the right wing, and sometimes as a central midfielder. His versatility will be a huge plus for Daniel Farke’s side this summer.

Callum Wilson has been one of the names linked with a move to Elland Road. When the former Newcastle man was asked about the transfer links to clubs like Leeds, he said:

“I still feel I can offer so much.

“I had conversations with the manager [Eddie Howe] and we established that I’m not at a point mentally where I’m ready to sit on the bench and play No 2 for the whole season.”

QUIZ: Can you name the team Leeds United sold these players to?

The Whites have been monitoring a few names as they look to add some more quality up top.

Last seasons saw Joel Piroe play almost every game of the Championship; Patrick Bamford was barely fit to start, and for some reason, Daniel Farke never trusted Mateo Joseph. The Spain U21 international will hold talks with the club over his future soon.

According to Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Leeds are still interested in Norwich star Josh Sargent.

“Josh Sargent is still one that’s very much on their radar. Burnley are also very interested, they like him an awful lot,”

The Norwich City star has been a target for Leeds over the last year.

Price tag already putting suitors off

Alan Nixon revealed that Burnley also have some interest in the American, but the Clarets feel like he is overpriced. Sargent is valued by Norwich at £20million which is a very steep fee for a player who has not played much at the top level of football.

AS Roma were also interested, but have turned their attentions elsewhere.

Sargent is not cut out for the Premier League level

Frankly speaking, the Norwich man is not much better than what Leeds have with Joel Piroe. And even with Piroe, the Whites got him for a much lower fee considering his output.

Sargent is not a orthodox striker, and during his time at Norwich, he has thrived with a partner up top. He would not really fit in this Leeds set up, and the price tag is another huge obstacle. Josh Sargent is not worth a move this summer.
