The end of the summer transfer window was not a good time for Leeds United fans. After missing out on major targets, the club was now struggling to find a signing on deadline day.
Facundo Buonanotte was a deal that Leeds thought was going through; after convincing Brighton over a loan, they were expecting the player to arrive in West Yorkshire to sign the deal. However, Chelsea hijacked it at the last minute. Then on deadline day, the Whites pushed for a move to sign Harry Wilson on a permanent deal from Fulham.
The move also fell through as the London club pulled the plug.

Dean Saunders thinks Harry Wilson is ‘more important’ than Joe Rodon for Wales

Leeds trio Karl Darlow, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon featured in this international break as they suffered two defeats to England and Belgium. Dean Saunders was speaking on talkSport, saying that Fulham’s Harry Wilson is a more important player to Craig Bellamy’s side than any Leeds player:
“Well, we’ve obviously got [Aaron] Ramsey, Dan James as two starters who are missing and Aaron Ramsey struggling to stay fit.
“But Dan James — lightning fast, Brennan Johnson — lightning fast, David Brooks — silky, and Harry Wilson — silky on the ball.
“You’ve got Kieffer Moore — the target man.
“And that’s the strength of our team. But we’ve definitely got players who can supply Kieffer Moore.
“For me, Harry Wilson is our best player. You know, we’ve all got wingers playing for our teams that don’t have an end product.
“Harry Wilson either scores or makes a goal every time I watch him play.”
Do Leeds United still need the Fulham winger?
There are recent reports suggesting that Leeds could go back in for Wilson in the January transfer window. The Welsh attacker has less than one year remaining on his deal, and if he has not resolved his future by the winter window, he could be gone from the London club.
But do Leeds really need Wilson? He will be a massive upgrade on Brenden Aaronson – he offers more than the American on the ball, and can match his defensive work rate off it.

Most importantly, he brings productivity – 23 goal contributions over the last four seasons is an impressive feat for a player at a lower table club. If Leeds could get him in January, it could be a huge boost for their survival chances.
