Leeds United linked with move for former Premier League star

Leeds United have been at the centre of a transfer storm in recent days and weeks, with questions being raised about Daniel Farke’s midfield options.

The Leeds United manager was given a real headache to solve when skipper Ethan Ampadu was lost to long term injury compounded by the loss of Ilia Gruev which left Farke with just two midfield options in the shape of Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell who have impressed in the games against Sunderland and Sheffield United but with games coming thick and fast, Leeds still need more options in the midfield area.

They have been linked with a move for Liverpool Ace Tyler Morton in January but that transfer will not address the immediacy of their problems at present, which is why Leeds United have been linked with a move for a free agent to immediately ease their troubles in the centre of the park.

It looks like that midfielder is set to be French international and former VfL Wolfsburg and Atletico Madrid star Joshua Guilavogui who was pictured in Leeds after United’s win over Sheffield United on Friday night, however according to reports, Leeds still have options that they will consider.

Despite Joshua Guilavogui being the leading option for Leeds and widely expected to agree a short term deal to stay at the club until the end of the season and no longer, reports are still linking Leeds with two former Premier League stars.

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate continues to be linked with a move to Elland Road but this deal is the most unlikely of the three due to the financial demands of Kouyate.

However, one man who reportedly had a training session with Leeds United, continues to be linked and remains a likely alternative to Guilavogui. That of course is former Arsenal and La Liga midfielder Francis Coquelin and according to reports he still remains on the West Yorkshire club’s radar as they look to finally address this problem.
