Leeds United loanee Rasmus Kristensen has conceded that he regrets coming off against Viktoria Plzen on Thursday night and watching Eintracht Frankfurt concede two late goals.
Kristensen spent last season on loan at Roma and was never expected to stay at Leeds in the summer when he returned to the club.
The defender moved to the German club on loan in the summer and Eintracht are already working on trying to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.
The Dane has been a massive hit since joining the club and has been praised for the way he has led the team’s defence this season.
He was substituted in the 85th minute on Thursday night when Eintracht were leading the Europa League game 3-1 but Viktoria Plzen scored two late goals to earn a point from the game.
The Leeds United loanee conceded that he reached his limit when he was subbed off
Kristensen kept the Eintracht backline working in the big game in Europe but following his departure, the backline collapsed and conceded those two late goals.
The defender insisted that he could not have continued any longer and admitted that he risked suffering an injury if he played on.
However, the Dane conceded that he now regrets coming off as Eintracht conceded those two late goals without his presence in the team.
“I left because I had almost reached my limit. Something worse could have happened”, the defender was quoted as saying by Fussball.news.
“But now I wish I had stayed on the pitch.”
Eintracht have the option to make Kristensen’s loan into a permanent deal for a fee of €13m as part of the agreement with Leeds.
However, the German club are keen to work out fresh terms with the Whites and get the defender on a permanent deal for a lower fee moving forward.
The Dane has settled well at Eintracht and is keen to stay at the club for the long term.
