Leeds United make big decision on star man

Leeds United are set to make a huge decision when it comes to one player currently at the club.

After losing key players this summer, Daniel Farke had to gear up for another Championship campaign. Leeds lost last year’s playoff final to Southampton.

Breakout star Archie Gray left the club, as well as Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville. The latter contributed 28 goals and assists in the league last season.

The main aim of the transfers this summer was to replace some of the firepower from last year, while strengthening the team enough to challenge for promotion again.

Largie Ramazani, Ao Tanaka, Joe Rothwell, Isaac Schmidt and Manor Solomon were brought in before the transfer deadline. So far, a handful of them have been impressive; the likes of Tanaka and Rothwell have been solid players this season.

One player who has failed to live up to expectations is Manor Solomon. The forward was signed on loan from Tottenham to provide a new dimension in attack. His first game brought a lot of hope and optimism to Leeds fans; he had an assist in his first game against Hull City and even won player of the match.

Since then, he has failed to score or assist, leading to rumours that Daniel Farke might ask for Leeds to terminate his loan. Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Solomon will not be leaving the club in January:

“I don’t think it gets to that extent. With Djed Spence, it was off-field issues as well, it was more his conduct than his performances. Solomon’s a good professional. He was brought in to compete. Leeds have a high-calibre squad, it was never going to be easy for anyone to walk in there.

“They’re relatively happy to have him around, a body. Did they bring Solomon in and think he’d be the best player in the Championship? Probably not, but from what I’m hearing, he’s a good professional and they’re pretty happy.

“Will it lead to a permanent deal? It’s hard to see at this point, but still a while to go. Unless it means them bringing themselves in, I don’t see them finishing it early. I’m not hearing they’re dissatisfied. Leeds have got such a good squad, it’s not an easy one to get into.”

Great decision by the team

With the upcoming schedule from now till January, Leeds will need every player available. Solomon has not been great, but the glimpses he showed in his first start were bright enough to see. Maybe he shows he quality later on in the campaign, but dumping him now makes no sense.

If Leeds have a replacement lined up, then moving the loanee would be more plausible.
