Leeds United have been hunting for a free agent in midfield and it now looks to be over with an announcement regarding the arrival of Joshua Guilavogui expected imminently.
However, according to reports, Leeds United are still keeping tabs on other signings in midfield. Daniel Farke’s side have been doing it tough in the midfield since the loss of captain Ethan Ampadu which was then compounded by the loss of Ilia Gruev both to injury.
Since then, Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have stepped up in midfield impressing against Sunderland, Sheffield United and Watford as Leeds took seven points from a possible nine. Against Watford, Tanaka picked up Sofascore’s Man of the Match for the game with a rating of 7.8.
However, despite their form reinforcements are needed hence the move for Guilavogui, a former French international who has starred in La Liga for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and the Bundesliga making 250 appearances as club captain of VfL Wolfsburg. His last club was Mainz and he is now bound for Elland Road with lorded journalist Fabrizio Romano confirming that he has agreed a deal with Leeds United.
But the Whites might not be done in the market just yet.

Leeds have been linked with plenty of players in recent weeks including Liverpool ace Tyler Morton, but the player they had the biggest link to was Francis Coquelin who trained with the club recently.
The midfielder is well known in the UK due to his spell at Arsenal, but he also has experience in La Liga with Villareal. Many believed that the move towards Guilavogui meant an end to Leeds’ interest in the former Arsenal star.
According to Leeds United News, the West Yorkshire club still have “eyes on” the former Arsenal man whilst MOT Leeds News have reported that the club have made contact with Coquelin over his fitness ahead of a potential move which could see him join Guilavogui in bolstering Farke’s midfield options as Leeds united pursue promotion back to the Premier League after heartbreakingly missing out in the Wembley play-off final last year against Southamptonn.
