Bayern Munich defender Eric Dier is reportedly set to join AS Monaco this summer. The former Spurs star has been in Germany over the last year. Dier is set to sign a two-year deal with the French side. But according to Graeme Bailey, the 31-year old turned down a return to England.
Leeds United, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Brentford are among the teams that were interested in signing the defender. Sources reveal that Dier’s representatives were in contact with all of the teams. The former Spurs star made 45 appearances with this Bayern Munich side currently top of the Bundesliga.
The club are looking in the right place
Even though trying to sign Eric Dier was an ambitious move, it is exactly the type of transfer the club should be looking at. The 31-year old has years of Premier League experience, and was an active contributor on a team that just reached the Champions League quarterfinal.
Leeds will do well to target players with this kind of experience, as the club prepare for life back in the Premier League.
