Leeds United make Daniel Farke sack decision as club’s stance confirmed – timing raises eyebrows

Daniel Farke Leeds United

It is going to be a very long week for Leeds United and Daniel Farke after this weekend’s result. The Whites now find themselves just one point above the relegation zone.

The team have lost four of their five league games, but Farke insists that it is a ‘good thing’ that they are averaging a point a game. The German continues to deflect from the real problems around the team. Leeds fans were furious as Farke called the fanbase ’emotional’ after the loss at Nottingham Forest.

Leeds United Next 5 Premier League Games

Aston Villa 6th
Manchester City 2nd
Chelsea 3rd
Liverpool 8th
Brentford 15th

Since the weekend, Brendan Rodgers and Marco Rose have been linked with moves to Elland Road. No one knows what will happen during the international break, but the upcoming run of games after the break will likely see Leeds head into the festive period in the relegation zone. They face Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool in what will be Farke’s biggest test in charge of the club.

Daniel Farke Leeds United update delivered on Sky Sports

Zinny Boswell of Sky Sports has now given a definitive update on Daniel Farke and his future at Leeds United. In the short term, Leeds have decided to back Farke and he will remain in charge after the international break. However, the next five games after the break could determine the next step.

Leeds United Premier League Rank in Stats 2025/26
Statistic League Rank
Goals Scored 18th
Goals Conceded 4th
Expected Goals (xG) 13th
Expected Goals Conceded (xGA) 12th
Clean Sheets 16th
Ball Possession 13th

Boswell said on Sky: ”Leeds have no plans to change their head coach as things stand amid growing discontent among supporters and, after taking 11 points from 11 Premier League games, the club and Farke feel the team are currently on course to achieve their goal of survival.”

”Sitting one point above the relegation zone, Leeds have the hardest schedule in the Premier League over the next five matches, according to Opta, with Aston Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool visiting Elland Road as well as trips to Manchester City and Brentford.”

”The fact Farke’s scheduled in for broadcast interviews next week is as strong an indication as any that he will be in the hot seat for at least some of those games and, although it is a daunting run, there is a belief internally that the Elland Road factor is a reason for optimism.”

Interesting timing as Farke spared Leeds United sack

The timing of the update from the club is very interesting. Just recently, the Mail gave a similar timeline as to when Daniel Farke could be sacked. These next four of the five games after the break will determine his future at Leeds United.

Daniel Farke Premier League Record
Season Club Games Wins
2019/20 Norwich City 38 5
2021/22 (sacked) Norwich City 11 1
2025/26 (ongoing) Leeds United 11 3

The report in The Mail suggested Farke had five games to save his job, starting with the game against Nottingham Forest. Leeds lost convincingly 3-1 to Forest, who were in poor form, so one wonders where else the team can take their points. One loss down, and the upcoming four games sees no obvious positive result in sight – the first opponents in this run are Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s men have won eight of their last ten games.

Unless a miracle happens, Leeds could end that run of games without a point and Farke will be sacked. So for now, the time is ticking at Elland Road.
