Harry Gray opted to join Rotherham United on loan during the winter transfer window after finding first-team opportunities hard to come by at Leeds United in the first half of the season.

The striker made his Leeds debut towards the end of last season at just 16 years old, but Daniel Farke has been careful not to rush his development, keeping him largely away from the senior squad.

Instead, the 17-year-old has spent most of his time playing for the club’s Under-21s before eventually accepting a loan move to League One side Rotherham in January.

Since making the switch, he has scored two league goals for the struggling third-tier outfit as they battle to maintain their League One status heading into the closing stages of the season.

However, there is already speculation over the teenager’s future at Leeds ahead of the end of the season.

Leeds make a key Harry Gray decision for the summer

Despite scoring only twice in League One since joining Rotherham, the striker has impressed with the way he has handled playing for a team struggling to stay up in the third tier.

Leeds see Gray as their long-term striker option, but Daniel Farke has been reluctant to rush his development and give him regular first-team minutes.

Sheffield United have been linked with an interest in signing the striker on loan in the next summer transfer window.

According to TEAMTalk, Leeds have more or less decided on what they want to do when the attacker returns to Elland Road at the end of the season.

It has been claimed that if Leeds are still in the Premier League next season, the club are likely to loan the 17-year-old again in the summer.

They are expected to opt for a club in the Championship as the next step in Gray’s development.

There is expected to be a beeline of Championship clubs if Gray is made available for another loan move in the next summer transfer window.

Another loan move makes sense

The 17-year-old striker is rated highly at Leeds. However, many feel he is still not ready to be a regular in the Premier League squad.

If Leeds survive this season, it makes sense for the striker to go out on loan again and continue to gather senior experience at a decent level.
