Leeds United move for Premier League star set to collapse

Many Leeds United fans anticipated some major signings before the transfer deadline. Last season saw the club bring in Ao Tanaka and Manor Solomon late in the window.

And the impact both signings made on the team was undeniable, as the Whites won the league and secured promotion. The weekend’s result against Newcastle showed how good the Leeds team could be against tougher opponents. Daniel Farke’s side managed to hold Newcastle to a goalless draw at Elland Road.

After the game, Farke hoped that the club would bring in major reinforcements to boost their chances of survival:

”We have allowed Largie and Isaac to travel for talks with other clubs. Not confirmed yet but we expect this will happen. My focus is to strengthen offence, how realistic, it makes no sense to give you a percentage but we’re looking forward to strengthen offence a bit more. If it’s one or two more we will see, whatever is possible. We want the best possible squad and everyone is working hard.”

Leeds United deal looks set to be off

Over the weekend, Leeds assessed several targets ahead of Monday’s deadline. Dilane Bakwa, Gus Hamer and Bilal El Khannouss were all considered. But the news came out of Elland Road on Monday was that the club had landed on Harry Wilson.

The Whites had been in talks with Fulham over a move for the forward. It started out as an initial loan, but became a proposal for a permanent transfer. However, the only way the London club would sanction the deal is if they sealed their own transfers. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Marco Silva’s side had completed deals for Kevin and Samu Chukwueze, opening the door for Leeds to sign Wilson.

Now, according to Miguel Delaney, Leeds’ move for Harry Wilson could potentially be off. He added that unless something drastic happens, the transfer will not go through and the 28-year old will stay in London.

There is no word on what happened in between the talks, but the report could eventually come out after the window shuts.
