Leeds United spent close to £100million this summer, mostly on the defence and the midfield. But fans considered the window a poor one because the Whites failed to add quality in attack.
Daniel Farke got a new keeper, depth at center back and a replacement for Junior Firpo at left back. He also got his midfielders in Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach. And so far this season, the spending on these two areas of the pitch can be justified.
Gudmundsson and Stach have been some of the standout performers so far. If Leeds are to dip into the market in January, it will not be for defenders or midfielders.

Sheringham thinks Leeds United should sign Kobbie Mainoo

Former Manchester United player Teddy Sheringham thinks Leeds can do with a player like Kobbie Mainoo in January. The midfielder has been out of favour under Ruben Amorim and could push for a move when the window opens.
“Yes – without a doubt. Not even six months ago, he was in the England set-up and people were raving about him.” he told the Yorkshire Post.
“He can’t be that bad a player.
“He just needs to get someone who loves the way he plays. This game is all about opinions and just because Amorim doesn’t fancy him, it doesn’t mean to say [Daniel] Farke won’t and get the best out of him.
“Put an arm around him and tell him how good he is, team him up with someone in midfield who accommodates him and all of a sudden, you’ve got a player back on your hands.
“If Leeds could get someone like that on loan, it would definitely be a plus point.”
Leeds are well stacked in midfield
Daniel Farke is happy with his set of midfielders, and it is unlikely he tries to add more. The Leeds boss pointed out how hard the competition in that part of the field makes his team selection during games:
“Happy with his performances but can improve, this is what all my central midfielders have to do.
“Ilia Gruev has hardly put a foot wrong, Ao Tanaka back fit and an important player.
“Ethan, Anton, Sean have to deliver because there are other top players pushing in training.”
