Leeds United are currently focused on the wings with the ongoing Jonathan Rowe and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi saga. There are front runners in both the situations and the bad news is it’s not Leeds.
The club will have to decide fast on their replacement for Crysencio Summerville. The Dutchman left Elland Road a few weeks ago for West Ham United in a deal worth £25 million plus add-ons.
In the winger race, the midfield position has been left on hold. This is because The West Yorkshire outfit would like to replace the best player in the league first.
Although midfield is also on the cards for replacements following key departure from the middle of the park. Glen Kamara left for Rennes and Archie Gray decided to move on to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur.
Both of them made substantial contributions to the squad as The 49ers gave a shot at promotion last season. Their failure to do so has left the club in a difficult mess with many departures and few arrivals.
The club will need at least one new player in the middle of the park. The priority in midfield for Leeds seems to be Dejan Ljubičić. The Austrian midfielder is plying his trade in the 2. Bundesliga as FC Köln saw a bad season in the top flight which resulted in relegation.
Only a big offer can persuade FC Köln to sell Dejan Ljubičić
According to BILD, only a big offer will convince The Billy Goats to sell the Austrian midfielder. Dejan Ljubičić only has a year left on his contract hence the club will need to consider that too.
If the player agrees to extend, it is an obvious sign that he is staying. But there has been no rumours of extension yet and BILD has already reported that the Austrian is considering his future in Germany.
However, the head of first-team football at Köln is confident that the player is staying following a management revamp at the club. Thomas Kessler believes that the new Austrian management is enough for Dejan to stay.
Leeds United have already had a £3.3 million bid rejected as they’ll want to increase their bid. There have been rumours that The 49ers will be back with a new offer but there haven’t been any movements for the same yet.
Whatever the case, The West Yorkshire outfit can expect a significant portion of its sales profits deplete for this transfer.
