Leeds United on course for Premier League survival in 2025/26 – The stats don’t lie

Leeds United were one of the favourites to go down back to the Championship even before a ball was kicked ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season. The performances of promoted teams in recent seasons, coupled with Leeds’ struggles in the transfer window, were seen as key reasons why the Whites would go down.

However, Daniel Farke’s men have defied expectations at the start of the season. They have eight points from their opening six Premier League games, and have looked more than competitive in the top flight.

Apart from a 5-0 drubbing at Arsenal, Leeds have been more than a match for their other opponents, and have wins over Everton and Wolves and draws against Newcastle United and Bournemouth.

Leeds have looked better and more resilient than most promoted teams in recent seasons, and the numbers show that the Whites are on course to avoid relegation in their first season back in the Premier League.

Leeds United could seal safety in the 2025/26 Premier League in the next four games

Farke knows that a solid start to the season is not even half the job done, and his team will face more scrutiny, pressure and periods of poor form that they will have to overcome throughout the long campaign.

However, a solid haul of points early eases some of the pressure, and Leeds have done exactly what they needed to do at the beginning of the campaign.

And historical precedence suggests Leeds could be well on course to sealing survival in the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Leeds have eight points from six games, and in the last ten years, no promoted side has ever been relegated after they picked up 11 points from their first 10 games.

The Yorkshire giants are just one win away from reaching the 11-point mark, and they have four games to do so.

In fact, Leeds are on course to score way more than 11 points at the end of the ten-game mark, given the opponents they are set to face in the coming weeks.

Leeds could look stronger than ever at the 10-game mark

The Yorkshire giants are set to host Tottenham at Elland Road next weekend, and the Whites will fancy their chances against any team at home this season.

They have not lost at home in over a year, and should have beaten Bournemouth, who conceded that the Whites were a level above them at the weekend.

Leeds will also back themselves to get something from their trip to fellow promoted side Burnley, who are 18th in the league table, after the international break.

The Whites have another home game lined up against a struggling West Ham side on 24th October before a trip to Brighton.

If Leeds have 11 or more points after the next four games, Leeds will back themselves to survive in the Premier League this season.

Can you name these 10 former Leeds United goalkeepers?
