Reaching the Premier League was a tough task for Leeds United; the season before, they lost in the Championship playoff final. That was not the most disappointing part of the campaign.
That summer saw the club lose most of their best players while preparing to mount another promotion campaign. Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter were among the marquee names that left. The trio were the best players in the team that season and were expected to lead another charge before they all left the club.
Daniel Farke lost quality, but was still able to guide the group of players back into promotion contention, with Leeds eventually reaching the Premier League. It has been one of Farke’s best feats at Elland Road till date.
Crysencio Summerville set to make the World Cup
The Whites made their return to the top flight this season, and have given a good account of themselves so far. Many thought they would have been struggling at the bottom of the table, but with nine games to go they have their destiny in their own hands. The club have also made the FA Cup quarterfinals where they will face West Ham United.
This means Crysencio Summerville will have another chance to face his former club. After seasons plagued with injury and absences, the winger is now finding his feet with the London club. This season, he has produced seven goals and two assists. Summerville’s performances have caught the eye of Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman, who has said that the winger could be on the plane to the World Cup.
”Of course, he’s a player we’re considering.” Koeman told ESPN.
”The competition is a bit less in attack, and he’s a player who plays in the Premier League, is important at West Ham, and can play on both the right and left wing.”
”That’s what we’re looking at. He’s very clever in his play and in moments of possession.”
”He also has a high level of efficiency and is used to playing at full intensity, both forward and back’.

Leeds United to benefit financially
Making the World Cup is not only an achievement for Summerville, it is also actually a huge win for Leeds United. When the winger was sold, the club included a clause that would see them gain financial reward for him making a national team appearance at senior level. If the 25-year does make his bow for the Netherlands, Leeds are set to make up to £4 million from that milestone according to reports. Which would mean that the true value of the Summerville sale would rise to close to £30 million, which is amazing business from the 49ers.
