Leeds United plan FOURTH bid for Sean Longstaff

Leeds United have completed four signings in this summer transfer window. And the process for all four went smoothly without any hitches.

News about Lukas Nmecha broke, and the German was unveiled hours later, and deals for Sebastiaan Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson were completed just days after the news hit the headlines. The only deal that was delayed was Jaka Bijol, as the player had a wedding to attend.

All the deals the club have overseen have gone smoothly, mostly because they targeted players that wanted to come on board.

This was the reason why a move for Habib Diarra failed. Leeds did not want to pay his transfer fee, which is why Sunderland got the chance to swoop in and scupper the deal. The Whites’ approach to the market has been very methodical and prioritized getting the right price.

So far, just over £30million has been spent on incomings.

Leeds recently had a third bid rejected for Sean Longstaff. The Whites have been keen on signing the midfielder, who is a favourite of Daniel Farke. The last bid included £10million + £2million in add-ons.

Graeme Bailey has confirmed that another bid will be made for Longstaff shortly:

“I think they will [bid again],” Bailey said to Leeds United News.

“Leeds are threatening to go elsewhere. I don’t think a deal is a million miles away.

“It makes sense with a deal so close, we aren’t talking £5m-£10m away. It’s ongoing, that one.”

Newcastle are open to sale

The facts remain, Newcastle have been open to selling Longstaff, but at the value they want. After the third bid, it was revealed that the Magpies have an asking price of around £15million.

Longstaff has already given the green light to Leeds so personal terms will be a formality. The midfielder decided to leave this summer in order to guarantee a transfer fee instead of leaving for free next year.

Longstaff has that Premier League quality

Sometimes to survive in the Premier League, you need players that have been there before. Nothing exemplifies this more than Sean Longstaff. The midfielder has been with Newcastle through their up and downs and knows what it takes to survive in the league.

Aside that, his attributes fit English football. He brings steel in the middle of the park, and can dominate both boxes. Longstaff is not the greatest on the ball, but his other attributes more than make up for it. The 27-year old can also be an outlet for goals, Leeds can benefit from having such a profile in their team.
