Leeds United plot £10M move for Wolves star – England international could arrive at Elland Road this summer

Leeds United have a massive job on their hands ahead of this summer. The club is just a few points away from securing Premier League promotion, with just three league games left.

This summer’s recruitment will be key, as it could be the difference between survival and relegation. Last summer’s window did not really inspire any confidence. Leeds failed to get most of Daniel Farke’s first choice targets, and there was a lot of business done late in the window.

Leeds fans will be hoping the summer window will be as good as the last time they were promoted to the top flight. Back in 2020; Raphinha, Illan Meslier and Rodrigo Moreno all arrived. The trio were big contributors to the campaign that saw them stay up and finish in the top half.

As has been in line with multiple reports over the past few weeks, it looks like there will be a new goalkeeper at Elland Road this summer. Angus Gunn, Aaron Ramsdale and Caomhin Kelleher have been recently linked with a move to Leeds. With Illan Meslier set to leave after losing his place in the first team, the search for a first choice keeper could be accelerated.

According to Alan Nixon, Leeds United hold serious interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. The England international is a serious target the club are considering. Johnstone has three years left on his current contract, and according to Nixon, he could be available for just £10million.

Sam Johnstone looks like a bargain

The 32-year old ticks a lot of boxes. First of all his price tag is affordable, and he comes with a lot of experience. Objectively speaking, compared to the recent names mentioned he looks like a standout.

In his last Premier League season, he made the most saves (162) and finished in the top 10 for save percentage (74.1%). Sam Johnstone has all the makings of a solid summer signing.
