Leeds United plot double transfer swoop from French club – Daniel Farke could fill two major needs

Leeds United will have the financial backing this summer, and the fans will expect some big signings. Going by the last two seasons, there should be some optimism.

Daniel Farke has not been afraid to stamp his mark on the club’s recruitment. Just this past season, he pushed to get deals for Ao Tanaka and Manor Solomon. Signing the duo paid off heavily, as Leeds won the Championship. The Whites are still pursuing a move for the Spurs man, but will face some opposition this summer.

Club chairman Paraag Marathe has insisted that the German will be involved in recruiting players this summer. Fans will be hoping to see another brilliant transfer window.

It looks like the club will continue recent trends of recruiting outside England. This plan has paid off in the last two seasons, bringing in Illia Gruev and Ao Tanaka.

According to Ouest France, Leeds are targeting a move for Angers duo Yahia Fofana and Himad Abdelli. The duo played a key part in the Ligue 1 club’s survival this season. With Fofana being instrumental between the sticks, and Abdelli contributing to the goals. The attacking midfielder was the second top scorer for the club this season.

The Whites may have a huge advantage in the pursuit of these two players, as both of them have one year left on their current deals. Angers may be forced to sell both of them this summer.

Leeds fill two needs

A goalkeeper has been priority since the end of the season. Leeds targeting Fofana hopefully means a new number one for next season. The Ivorian keeper has a lot of experience, and is a starter for his national team. According to Fotmob statistics, he prevented 13 goals this season.

Himad Abdelli is also an option at attacking midfield. He scored six goals in the league this season, playing for one of the more defensive sides in the division. Abdelli was also active off the ball, which would be a trait Daniel Farke would value.

If Leeds manage to pull these deals off, it would be a valuable swoop.
