Leeds United prepared to meet valuation of Nottingham Forest star this summer

Leeds United have made seven signings this summer. Each of these players covers a serious need in the team ahead of next season.

The Premier League is more difficult than ever. Newly-promoted clubs can barely match the quality, with most getting relegated by February. Leeds have set out to add quality and depth to the squad. Recruitment has addressed serious needs in some areas.

Lucas Perri is the latest to arrive at Elland Road. With the Whites set to return to the Premier League, Daniel Farke needed a new keeper after what happened with Illan Meslier. The Leeds boss explained why the club chose to sign the former Lyon man:

“It was important that with Lucas we have a goalkeeper with a really good age. At 27, it means he still – especially for a goalkeeper – young in age but already with experience. He had a really good season with Lyon.

“He comes with confidence and got a lot of praise last season. We had a difficult few situations, obviously, towards the end of the last season on the goalkeeper position. And for that, we were looking for a goalkeeper with momentum and confidence.”

Leeds United ready to sign Jota Silva

Leeds have spread their net far and wide as they look at alternatives for Igor Paixao. The Feyenoord winger was close to a move to Elland Road, but ultimately chose a move to Marseille. The Whites were really high on the Brazilian – they saw him as a major talent and were willing to pay a huge fee to sign him.

Now that a deal is off the table, the club is focusing on other targets. According to Portuguese outlet Desporto ao Minuto, Leeds have serious interest in signing Nottingham Forest star Jota Silva.

Club ready to pull out stops to seal signing

The Whites are prepared to beat Sporting to the signing of Jota this summer.

Nottingham Forest only want a permanent move for Jota Silva, and will turn down any loan offers. Leeds have given the indication that they are ready to pay the asking price for the 25-year old winger.

Forest are keen to offload Jota’s wages off their books for next season.

Jota would be a good, but not great signing

Jota Silva is a decent player, but not at the level of what Leeds need to be looking for right now. The club need to sign a concrete starter who can immediately plug into the team and bring goals and assists. Last season, the Forest winger managed just three goals and one assist in 891 minutes.

It would be a shame for Leeds to splash the cash on such a player this summer.
