A lot of details have come tonight from the reports from Spain. According to Estadio Deportivo, Real Betis do not have an offer on the table yet for Firpo. But the La Liga side intend to do so soon. The report also makes a huge claim that Leeds have offered Firpo a new four-year deal. Estadio Deportivo adds that the contract comes with a ”juicy” offer.
Looking at the current wage bill, Firpo being handed a raise will put him near the top earners at Elland Road. The report concludes that Firpo and his agent will make a decision in the coming weeks.
There are other offers from clubs around Europe, which the player will assess.
Leeds should not give into Firpo’s demands
Firpo is a decent player, and over the past two seasons has been key to Daniel Farke’s attack. But we have to remember he is still a weak point of the back four, and at Premier League level, it will only be exploited more. Despite all that, there is a very good chance Firpo plays well in the top flight.
But to offer him that kind of money is ludicrous. If he does not meet Leeds halfway, the club need to take this reported offer off the table. They can find a new left back in the market.
