Leeds United seem to be closing in on one of their first signings of the summer. A deal for this defender is sure to kick off the arrival of more new faces at Elland Road.
The Whites are keen on adding quality to the defence this summer, and Udinese star Jaka Bijol has been identified. According to reports, a first bid has already been sent, with Leeds confident of the deal being completed soon. Bijol has been one of the more consistent performers in Serie A these past few seasons.
And by his own admission, he is ready to take the next big step in his career:
“We are talking about a truly big club, but these are just rumours and there are always plenty of those in Italy. It is also true that I feel ready for the next step, we’ll see if it happens this summer or not,”
“You can never tell in football. I am grateful to Udinese and very happy here, but I would like to make that step up.”

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Leeds’ first bid for Jaka Bijol has been rejected. The report does not reveal the fee involved but Udinese have promptly turned down the offer. All hope is not lost, both clubs are keen on completing a deal and will continue talks today.
Initial reports suggested that the Whites value the 26-year old around £16million, and other sources claim that the Italian side value the player closer to £18million. Leeds are confident of completing a deal for the player soon.
Leeds will get deal across the line
Jaka Bijol has been positioned as a statement signing for the club. Getting this calibre of player as a newly promoted club is not easy. The 49ers are following through on their promises to back the team’s recruitment this summer.
Fans need to be patient as the club negotiates more deals during the transfer window.
