During Leeds’ outstanding 2020/21 campaign, Gabby Agbonlahor angered plenty of Leeds United supporters by claiming the Whites weren’t as good as many said they were as they stormed towards the top half of the table.
Now, he’s said something else that may anger the Elland Road faithful. Speaking to Football Insider, the recuring guest on talkSPORT’s Sports Bar claimed Leeds are about to let one of their promotion heroes go.
He suggested that United were set to make a U-turn on the future of Ezgjan Alioski stating that he believes the impending arrival of natural left-back Junior Firpo will prompt his release.
The North Macedonian star is out of contract at Elland Road but was offered fresh terms last month but Agbonlahor believes that contract may soon be taken off the table if he doesn’t agree to the deal soon with his presence in the side no longer an absolute must if and when Firpo becomes a Leeds United player.
He said: “You just don’t know what Leeds are thinking they may see it as ‘You’ve taken so long to get back to us, we’re going to take it away.’”
It certainly should be interesting to see what unfolds in this ongoing contract saga between the left-sided player and Leeds.
